Dave Hockly is the founder of Data Story, a Queenstown-based team of 11 working with brands whose customers take long, considered journeys to buy. The work centres on a question most marketing measurement still dodges: which brand and lifecycle activity actually moves commercial outcomes.

To answer it, Data Story built measurement around the customer journey rather than the last click, and developed a proprietary brand measurement model that correlates brand activity to revenue. It tracks earned and owned media, branded search volume and how brands surface in AI responses, set against full-funnel, CX-based metrics. The result is a system that ties brand investment to results and improves performance as it learns.

Clients include NZSki, Weta Workshop, Co-operative Bank, WellingtonNZ, Destination Queenstown, Arrival Travel Co, Tas Walking Co, Queenstown Airport, Women's Refuge, Health NZ and more. The team carries specialists across UX and CRO, paid media and SEM, GEO and SEO, analytics and strategy.
