In a nutshell, my work looks at applying marketing and psychology theories in contexts that hopefully lead to an improvement in a person's life or an improvement in society. The means by which I achieve this vary from project to project, but the central key is to keep academic rigour and the needs of the target population in mind at all times.

Some examples of my work include investigating how marketing (specifically advertising) can be used to encourage healthy eating and exercise choices in children; how advertising can be effective in encouraging smoking cessation, how obese consumers cope with the social stigma or being overweight and how advertising can be effective in encouraging people to vote, especially those who are not overly interested in politics.

I have worked on projects for a number of organisations ranging in size from large NGOs, such as the WHO, to small charities and churches.
